Happy Birthday Neil deGrasse Tyson neil degrasse tyson

And The Most Astounding Fact about The Universe (Video)

You know the game where you get to pick any four people (alive) in the world to have dinner with?  Along with the Dalai Lama, Bono, and Bob Dylan, Neil deGrasse Tyson would have to be on my list.

According to Wikipedia, Neil deGrasse Tyson - born October 5, 1958- is an American astrophysicist (even winning People Magazine’s Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive Honor in 2000!) and science communicator. He is currently the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space and a research associate in the department of astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History. Since 2006 he has hosted the educational science television show NOVA scienceNOW on PBS and has been a frequent guest on The Daily ShowThe Colbert ReportReal Time with Bill Maher, and Jeopardy!. It was announced on August 5, 2011, that Tyson will be hosting a new sequel to Carl Sagan’s Cosmos: A Personal Voyage television series.

But it would have been easier to say that he’s just all-star fascinating.  Here’s one of his best YouTube Videos – he was asked by a reader of Time Magazine “What is the most astounding fact you can share with us about the Universe?”   This is his answer (beautiful video footage!) :

“When I look up at the night sky..I am reminded….that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up…and I feel big. Because my atoms came from those stars. There is a level of connectivity – we are participants in this universe, just by being alive.” – Neil deGrasse Tyson
