What He’s Done

Top 10 Accomplishments of President Obama

Just a few days out from a really important election, we thought it important to share this amazing video (one in a series of three) that highlight Obama’s accomplishments over the last four years.  One of’s friends, Gita O’Neil appears in this video with two of her sons.

Because President Obama’s accomplishments have been drowned out by special interests and the opposing party, it’s time to remind everyone of all the good, human rights accomplishments he has made to move this country forward in the right moral direction (progress, equal rights, environmental protection.)  Among his achievements:

1) Pulled the US and World Economy out of the deepest recession our country has experienced in our lifetime

2) Affordable Health Care Act – Health Care for all

3) Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (Equality for women)

4) Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act

5) Reversed the ban on Stem Cell Research

6) He got the green movement going, creating tax credits for solar and funding for clean energy

7) The End of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

8) He is the first President to openly support and push for the legalization of Gay Marriage

9) With Michelle Obama they have raised the importance of healthy eating in schools

10) He captured a major terrorist that alluded our country for years

We can’t bring ourselves to end at top 10 – here’s 3 Bonus:

11) His character and integrity has raised International opinion of our country

12) He is fighting for a woman’s right to choose what happens to her body

13) He ended the inhumane torture of prisoners that shamed the US

As the editors of the New Yorker wrote in the magazine’s endorsement of President Obama:

The re-election of Barack Obama is a matter of great urgency. Not only are we in broad agreement with his policy directions; we also see in him what is absent in Mitt Romney—a first-rate political temperament and a deep sense of fairness and integrity. A two-term Obama Administration will leave an enduringly positive imprint on political life. It will bolster the ideal of good governance and a social vision that tempers individualism with a concern for community. Every Presidential election involves a contest over the idea of America. Obama’s America—one that progresses, however falteringly, toward social justice, tolerance, and equality—represents the future that this country deserves.    (thanks, Tadasana team!)

Tell us, share….what has Obama done for you? Are you better off than you were four years ago?

this is really helpful, thank you – why hasn’t this been covered more in the debates and news coverage? He’s done more to move our country forward in the positive, progressive, human way than any President I remember. History won’t lie (today’s politicians will, of course!)

Great reminders! And although he has done at least a bit for the environment, I’d like to see more. He’s of course much better than Bush….and Romney’s anti-environmental comments (from Meet the Press in Sept esp) are frightening. Shame on us that he’s even in the running – there are not many more critical world issues today.

President Obama has changed my life as a African American, a woman, an America, and a human being and proud to be who I am and not ashamed of being who God made me to be. He is truly, the Commander and Comforter in Che if..4 more years! Love him!

That’s beautiful, Annette! We agree. And have to admit, we didn’t even look up who Lily Ledbetter was before we wrote this article…and that the bill in her name was the first bill signed by President Obama when he took office is so beautiful. As Deepak Chopra wrote yesterday in the Huff Post, he has showed true moral character and is leading us forward with great compassion for all.
