The Most Important Decision

everything is here to support you

I have decided that everything in my life is supporting me. I’ve made a decision. And because of that, everything gets interpreted through that filter, the sooner the better. Usually, it’s automatic. Sometimes it’s a little delayed. Sometimes I have to go the long way around. And eventually I recognize that there is in fact a gift in what happened. It turns out that it empowered me, often way beyond anything else that could have happened.

So a decision gets to be made. And I don’t ask you to make that decision intellectually prematurely. I am inviting you — as always — to drop into your core so that this decision that ultimately will come out of you gets to do so authentically, sooner rather than later.

Dreams Are the Seedlings of Realities

inspirational quotes about dreams

“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.”

~ James Allen

James Allen (28 November 1864 – 24 January 1912) was a British philosophical writer known for his inspirational books and poetry and as a pioneer of the self-help movement. His best known work, As a Man Thinketh, has been mass-produced since its publication in 1902. It has been a source of inspiration to motivational and self-help authors.

Book Review: Mindful Movements: Ten Exercises for Well-Being

mind body spirit retreats, books, Mindful Movements: Ten Exercises for Well-Being is a beautiful little spiral bound book with an accompanying CD created by the Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hanh.

This is one of several routines I have been doing everyday for the past five years. It is so simple to do that I even do it when I am on vacation or I am a bit under the weather. Some people are under the misconception that being mindful means sitting quiet and still with focused attention. These exercises demonstrate how you can have focused awareness while moving, promoting well-being through mindful movement.

Here is a Youtube video of Thich Nhat Hahn doing these exercises:

It may be hard to believe, but he is in his 80’s, yet notice the control he has over his movements.

The beauty of this book and CD is that young and old alike are capable of doing these mindful movements. As soon as our granddaughter is able to keep her balance on one leg, I plan to teach her this routine. It is never too young to teach mindfulness, and it is never too old to focus on our well-being.

Today’s Horoscope – Moon in Virgo

moon in virgo
Every time the Moon is in Virgo these days, we are given the opportunity to make sense of what has been going on lately at a cellular level. I don’t necessarily mean rational or cognitive sense, for that is not Virgo’s domain. Virgo is the energy that understands how to process things; even that which is mysterious is understood by Virgo. So much has been coming up these past months that the two and half days that the Moon will be in Virgo is a welcome opportunity to integrate.
The Virgo Moon will trine Pluto today and sextile Saturn, good news indeed. The Trine to the planet of Power will help us understand what the Shadow has been serving up and the productive Sextile to the Teacher will allow us to make good use of what we have learned.
There is an important shift today as Mercury moves out of Cancer and into Leo. This is yet another way in which the Grand Water Trine that was so enormous has come to a close. As I have already indicated, there is more water in our near future, but this huge event of June and July is behind us and now we have the opportunity to speak more confidently from a newly healed place. It’s interesting that Mercury in Leo can be quite boastful, but on the same day, Venus has an agitating transit with Saturn and when Venus (Love) and Saturn (the Teacher) agitate each other, issues of self-esteem and inhibition are on the table. Allow these contradictory energies to balance each other out and you will have a good experience today. If you don’t, the impulse to speak may override the readiness in your heart to come from the Truth. Mercury in Leo is VERY different than Mercury in Cancer and you may need a few days to get used to the shift.

An Acre of Attitudes

Positive attitude, positive thinking, forward thinking, Anne Lamott

Everyone is given an acre of attitudes at birth. It’s yours to tend and garden and weed and live with. You can plant bitterness or good humor. Feel free to fertilize and tend the feelings and approaches that you want to spend time with. Unless you hurt someone, this acre is all yours.

Probably worth putting up a decent fence, so that only the attitudes that you choose will have a chance to put down seeds, but it’s certainly a bad idea to put up a wall, because a walled garden is no good to anyone passing by. You get to decide what comes through your fence gate, right?

Watching out for invasive species—spending sufficient time on weeding and pruning and staking seem to be incredibly powerful tools for accomplishing the life you want. I refuse to accept that an attitude is an accident of birth or an unchangeable constant. That would be truly horrible to contemplate.

Good luck with your garden.
